Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela
The next Kumbh — on the banks of the Godavari
Significance
The Kumbh Mela rotates every ~3 years between Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik. 2027 is Nashik's turn — the last was 2015. Bathing at Ramkund during Kumbh is said to liberate the soul from rebirth.
The great pilgrimage returns to Nashik and Trimbakeshwar in 2027. Tens of millions of sadhus and pilgrims converge at Ramkund and the source of the Godavari for three Shahi Snans (royal bathing dates) over a three-month window.
First-time visitor
Target a weekday between Shahi Snans, bathe at Ramkund at dawn, then take the bus to Trimbakeshwar for the source-of-Godavari ritual.
What to see
- Shahi Snan — three royal bathing dates drive peak crowds
- Akhara processions of Naga sadhus
